Given the high number of cases within the City this year, we invited experts from the State to come to City Hall and field questions from the public on December 17. Representatives from the Maine CDC, Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, and Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry provided insight into the disease, ways for residents to protect themselves, and actions to take in case of an exposure.
Anyone who would like to watch a recording of the meeting can find it online by searching “rabies” in the BCTV 14 On Demand app.
Our Police Department and Animal Control Officer have made themselves available for immediate response to any reports of strangely behaving animals. Please do not hesitate to call them at 207-443-5563, ext. 3. For 24/7 information and advice about rabies, you can call the Maine CDC’s disease reporting and consultation line at 1-800-821-5821.
Using information from the Maine CDC, we have created a webpage, which not only answers frequently asked questions and lists prevention methods, but also contains a helpful phone directory. Visit the page Here.More: Current News Police News City Manager News
