General Assistance allows heating assistance during the months of September-May of each year. Anyone wishing to receive heating assistance through general assistance must call (207) 443-8335 in advance and schedule an appointment with the administrator. Please note that residents must make an appointment and qualify for general assistance to receive fuel during heating season. Appointments are scheduled only during hours listed above.

Running out of oil after hours is not considered an emergency, and deliveries will not be made after hours or on weekends or considered an emergency. Please allow at least 24 hours for delivery; same day delivery is not guaranteed following an application. Customers must watch their tanks, and make an appointment in advance and qualify for assistance before fuel will be delivered.
