Driving Directions (Google Map)

To Bath from Rt. 295 (North or South):

1. Take the US-1 exit 28 to Coastal Route/Brunswick/Bath - go 0.5 mi
2. Merge into - go 0.7 mi
3. Bear left at Blue Star Memorial Hwy (Route 1)- go 1.2 mi
4. Bear left at Mill St/Blue Star Memorial Hwy (Route 1)- go 8.4 mi
5. Follow signs to "Historic Bath" (right lane, middle exit)
6. Straight through stoplight at Washington St.
7. For information center/railroad station, turn right before bridge. For Downtown Bath/Historic district, follow signs left under the overpass.

From Rt. 1 North, Driving South:

1. Follow Rt. 1 south past Woolwich and over the bridge.
2. Immediately exit right into downtown. Turn right on Front St. into downtown historic district or follow Vine St. straight to Washington St.

Trains and Rail

• The Bath Railroad Station and Information Center is open for business! This historic railroad station has been newly renovated and is welcoming visitors and the Maine Eastern Railroad's Brunswick to Rockland excursion train. The tourist information center is maintained and staffed by Main Street Bath.
•  Now you can take the train to Portland, bus to Brunswick, and hop on the train again to travel up the coast as far as Rockland!

•  It is an easy, comfortable trip from Portland to Boston using Amtrak's Downeaster Train Service.

Transportation within Bath

"Emma" the Trolley
You'll hear the cheerful "ding! ding!" of the Bath trolley through our fair-weather months and during the "Old Fashioned Christmas in Bath" caroling tours. A great way to visit to local sites, the trolley picks up at most landmarks and points of interest in the City. 

The City of Bath also provides its own public transit system, providing both fixed schedule service and reservation service throughout the City. 

The Bath City Bus runs Monday through Friday from 8:00 am until 5:30 pm. The cost of a lift to the store, downtown or anywhere in between is one small dollar or if you are a regular 12 rides for $10.00. For a list of times and "landmarks" click on the schedule below. The times are approximate and the bus will stop anywhere along the route if you stand and wave them down.

Bus Transportation to Bath

• Long range passenger service through Bath is provided through connections with Concord Trailways.
• Vermont Transit will get you to Brunswick, and you can take the train or a taxi into Bath.

Airports

• Portland International Jetport is 40-50 minutes from Bath. The Jetport is a commercial facility with access to most major airlines.
• Manchester Airport in New Hampshire is the next nearest airport, about a 2 1/2 hour drive from Bath.
• Boston's Logan Airport is another often-used facility for Mainers. Driving time is about 2 1/2 - 3 hours, or take
• Concord Trailways bus service, which delivers you right to your gate.

From the Kennebec River

• Bath is blessed with one of the finest deep water ports within protected waters in the State of Maine. Located on the Kennebec River, these ports provide a variety of linkages, with deep water access in excess of 30 ft. in most developed areas in the community. The Kennebec is a safe and navigable river maintained by the Coast Guard. Access to the Kennebec is via Fort Popham, with travel capability upriver to the state capital of Augusta.
