    GENERAL INFORMATION

    The Bath Police Department is a progressive, full service law enforcement agency serving the City of Bath, Maine, a coastal community of about 10,000 residents located approximately 40 minutes north of Portland. Bath is home to the State’s largest private employer, a shipbuilding company known as the Bath Iron Works.

    The Bath Police Department, which handles over 8,000 calls for service each year, is staffed with 25 employees, filling several divisions. The Administrative Division is made up of the Chief of Police, the Lieutenant and an Administrative Assistant. The Patrol Division is commanded by the Lieutenant and staffed by 3 Sergeants, 2 Corporals and 7 Patrol Officers. The Detective Division is supervised by a Detective Sergeant and staffed by 2 Detectives and a Clerk.

    The Bath Police Department also employs a fulltime Traffic Safety Officer, as well as a part time Animal Control Officer and one School Crossing Guard. Additional personnel include lobby receptionists who handle non-emergency matters and walk-in customers. Window service hours are from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM daily. After hours, walk in customers are directed to use a lobby intercom system which is connected directly to the Sagadahoc County Communications Center.
