The City of Bath will be holding a public presentation about the upcoming reconstruction of North Street, from High to Washington Streets on August 29, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. in the City Hall Auditorium (55 Front Street, Bath). The purpose of the meeting is to review the preliminary plans, construction timeline, and expected impacts of construction. Construction is anticipated during the 2018 construction season.
This is the second phase of the North Street Reconstruction Project. The corridor project goals are to improve the roadway surface, provide safe and continuous pedestrian areas, and improve the appearance and quality of life along the corridor. Providing safe spaces for all modes of travel is an important part of this project. The initial phase, completed in 2015, consisted of the redesign and reconstruction of the roadway from ‘Five Corners’ to High Street, with substantial reductions in roadway width, traffic calming, and landscaping.
The second phase, to be discussed at the August 29th meeting, has a more limited scope, focused on reconstructing the roadway surface and sidewalk.
Funding for this project is shared between the City of Bath and the State of Maine, through the Municipal Partnership Initiative grant program.
