  • In the event of a storm or other disaster, please be prepared. Have an emergency kit ready and know the proper steps to take to stay safe. Use common sense both indoors and outdoors to prevent unnecessary injuries and damage. Please read or print the following information and learn more by visiting the website links.

    Communications/Media Outlets
    The following media outlets will be provided with up to date local emergency information including road closures and shelter availability. Be sure to have a hand-cranked or battery operated radio or television and plenty of extra batteries so that you still have access to information even when your electricity goes out.
    ·         Television Stations:
    o   Bath Community Television (BCTV), Channel 14

    ·         Radio Stations:

    Emergency Shelters
    The following locations are used as shelters in the event of an extended emergency (extended down period for power, water, sewerage, etc… for a large area of Bath). These locations are ONLY open as shelters when deemed necessary by local emergency management authorities. It is important to remember that these facilities are NOT open when the storm hits.You can call the Bath Fire Department at 443-5034 if you need transportation to an emergency shelter. Be sure the shelter is open before travelling to the site; the openings will be communicated on the above TV and radio stations.
    o   Salvation Army on Congress Avenue
    o   University College (old Bath Hospital) on Park Street

    Many of these websites provide seasonal information as well as year-round advice. Check back to them frequently as weather changes to be sure you are prepared for the current season’s dangers.

    • For flooded oil tanks: Call 800-482-0777 to notify DEP
    • If you think your well may be contaminated: 557-4214 (Maine Drinking Water Program)
    • To report flooded roads or other problems: Call your local emergency management or fire department.

      • Bath Fire: 443-5034
    • To report power outages: Call the emergency number for your utility
      • Central Maine Power: 800-696-1000
    ·         All emergency calls should go to 911; non-emergency calls can be directed to the Bath Police.
