Permit fees are rounded down to the nearest dollar. Payment methods include cash, check (made payable to the City of Bath), money orders, or Discover Card (a nominal fee is charged for Discover Card use).

Blasting Permit Added: 06/18/08
Blasting permits are needed for any blasting activities in the City. Blasting must be done by State licensed individuals, and proof of valid insurance in the amount of at least $500,000 public liability and property damage is required to obtain a permit. |

A building permit is required for the construction, demolition, or structural alteration of buildings. Erection of buildings smaller than 8'x 8' do not require a permit unless the site is in the Historic District, Flood Zone, or Shoreland Zone. |

Permits are required for all new electrical work including rewiring/electrical renovation work. |

Fill Permit Added: 06/18/08
Filling or "making land" requires a fill permit if the activity involves deposition of over 50 cubic yards of material. These projects typically also require Planning Board Review. |

Flood Hazard Area Development Permits Added: 06/18/08
Development in the flood plain requires a Flood Permit prior to the issuance of applicable construction permits, and the project must meet State specifications. |
Heating Permit Added: 06/18/08
Heating permits are required for the installation of heating plants, both new and replacement. Permits are also required for the installation of new oil storage tanks. Permits are not required for the installation of wood stoves, gas tanks, and replacement burners or other accessory parts required to repair a unit. If the repairs necessitate replacing the boiler or heat exchanger, a permit is required. |

Plumbing Permit Added: 06/18/08
Plumbing permits are required for all new and relocated internal plumbing. Direct replacement of fixtures without needing to relocate or alter piping does not require a permit. Some projects also require a hookup fee, as applicable. Plumbing permits are required for installation of septic systems or parts thereof, and for altering leachfields. Septic permit fees are per the State Plumbing Code and are predicated on the reviews needed to approve the application. Call for details. |
