Nestled along the sparkling Kennebec River, our small jewel of a city has the perfect mix of old seafaring history, vibrant daily life, and a strong sense of community. Long known as the "City of Ships," Bath finds its soul and identity in shipbuilding. From its architecture and cultural offerings to its urban downtown, Bath's shipbuilding roots define its character.
Bath was listed as one of the "Best Small Cities in America," was deemed a "Distinctive Destination" by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and recently recieved recognition as a "Preserve America Community" for our dedication to historic preservation and education. We are also a "Main Street" community and have been acclaimed for the unique and interesting shops, events, and opportunities in our thriving historic downtown.
We welcome you to search through the various sections of our City website for information about the Bath City Government and its projects and departments, Our Community and its offerings for residents, and Visiting Bath to discover our accomodations, dining, and things to do.
